How to get involved with Story Time:

The story time program consists of stories, songs, games, fingerplay and crafts. We appreciate if you register for a story time and let us know you are coming so we can prepare enough crafts. We never turn away anyone from story time, but from time to time we do run out of prepared craft materials if a lot of kids come when we don't expect them. We do require you to register for the Saturday Craft Hour so we know how much to prepare. We also ask that you be on time for story time as a courtesy to everyone.

Home school kids and families are always welcome!
Kids on the spectrum are also welcome. Please let us know you are coming so we can work with you!

The Library provides special story hour programs for day care centers. If you are a day care manager, please call Miss Sue for more information about how we can develop your own program. We do not allow day cares to attend our regularly scheduled story time.

Policies & Goals for Story Time & Craft Programs:

1. Our goal for story hour programs is for children to have a good time and develop early literacy skills. With your help, we can develop and nurture your child's love of books and interest in the library. Story time also helps prepare children to interact in a group environment with other kids and other adults.

2. Story time is for adults and children to participate in planned activities that develop literacy, craft and classroom skills. If you want to chat with a friend or read a magazine, please do so outstide the story hour room. We don't want our kids to be distracted while they are listening and learning.

3. If your child is ready to sit and listen without your help in the story room, you can sit in the library away from your child. But you must remain in the library. Young children are not permitted to be unattended in the library. Parents and guardians should always stay in the story room with kids younger than 8 years.

4. Please don't be late! It distracts all the kids in the room. Kids miss out on valuable time with the program. We close the doors promptly when story hour begins. Avoid disappointment - be on time!

With your help, we can make story time a wonderful regular event in your child's life. Please ask us if you have any questions.
