PMPL offers an variety of programs featuring arts, crafts, personal well-being, technology, health, and other seasonal activities that keep the mind and body invigorated through learning, and of course, lots of reading.

Our programs take place in the R. Dale & Frances Hughes Community Room on the 2nd floor.

Registration is required for all our programs.
Please register by calling the Reference Desk at 570-894-8860 X 4.

Book Club is a self-guided group that meets on the second Saturday of every month
from 1:30 - 2:30 pm in the 2nd floor quiet reading room with cozy chairs and fireplace.
Titles are varied and can be read in print, audio, or digital form when available.
Everyone is welcome and can suggest books for future meetings.

Short Story Book Club is for people who love to read but don't have a lot of time.
Short fiction is a great way to try new authors and genres,
and get some really great fiction without the commitment!
Mr. Joe selects and guides our different story choices,
and he can get copies of the stories for everyone.
Short Story Book Club meets every month at 1:00 pm in the 2nd floor quiet reading room.
Light refreshments are served.
Everyone is welcome and can suggest books for future meetings.

Meditation to Quiet the Mind is a group workshop. Classes are taught by Bev Abel, an Ananda certified meditation instructor. All levels of skill are welcome. Equipment or special clothes are not necessary. Participants will sit on a chair or on the floor—whichever is most comfortable. Lessons start with some light breathing and stretching motions. Bev provides thoughtful guidance for a 5 minute and a 15—20 minute meditation. Join us and learn how to create a calm body and mind. Use meditation to relax and cope with stress.Be mindful and at peace.

Rosetta Stone language software is now available to use in the library. We have French, Italian, German, Chinese, Spanish, English, Chinese and Arabic. You need a library card to make an appointment to use Rosetta Stone in our tutoring lab. You can create and manage your own account, and learn at your own pace with their expert instruction! Just ask for more information.
