PMPL Adult Programs

2017 SRP

We are offering an assortment of programs at the library for our adult patrons. Our goal is to provide regular programs featuring arts, crafts, personal well-being, technology, health, and other seasonal activities that keep the mind and body invigorated through learning, and of course, lots of reading.

Book Club is a self-guided group that meets on the second Saturday of every month from 1:00 - 2:30 pm in the 2nd floor quiet reading room with cozy chairs and fireplace.
Titles are varied and can be read in print, audio, or digital form when available. Everyone is welcome and can suggest books for future meetings.
Call the reference desk 507-894-8860 x 4 for information & to register.

Rosetta Stone language software is now available to use in the library. We have French, Italian, German, Chinese, Spanish, English, Chinese and Arabic. You need a library card to make an appointment to use Rosetta Stone in our tutoring lab. You can create and manage your own account, and learn at your own pace with their expert instruction! Just ask for more information.

  • Saturday June 3rd @ 1:00 pm The Knitting and Crochet Guild with Miss Linda for all level of knitters and crochet hand arts. Beginners are welcome for useful tips. This club meets in Conference Room A on the 2nd floor. Bring your own supplies. Registration is NOT required!

  • Saturday June 10th @ 1:00 pm - Saturday Book Club featuring Persuasion by Jane Austin. Book club takes place in our cozy fireplace reading room on the 2nd floor. All are welcome. Light refreshments served. Registration required!

  • Wednesday June 14th @ 6:00 pm - Guitar Workshop for Beginners ~ a workshop with Mr. Joe featuring basic skills for beginner players. This session features basic chords for the song Wild Thing. Please bring your own guitar - electric will not be able to plug in. A keyboard is also available. Participants will learn about the power chords and open chords. Come along for this great time to learn new things and learn from each other. Very popular - space is limited. Registration required!

  • SPECIAL SUMMER READNG EVENT ~ Thursday June 22nd @ 10:30 am - Building a Better You @ PMPL: Join Joe on the 2nd floor at our Computer Learning Center for a demonstration of personal and professional on-line tools that you can use to enhance your life and learn new skills. You will need to have a library card to participate on our 2nd floor Computer Learning Center and go on the internet. Registration required!

  • Monday June 26th @ 5:30 pm - Watercolor Workshop with Nancy Pitcher ~ Join Nancy for the first in a three part workshop to learn basic watercolor techniques. Leave each class with a finished or nearly finished work of art. All supplies are provided by the library. This is a very popular program so space is limited, if you can't commit don't waste a spot for someone else. Registration required! Call 570-894-8860 #4 to register.

  • Tuesday June 27th @ 10:30 am - Meditation to Quiet the Mind ~ Join Ananda certified meditation instructor Bev Abel for a class on how to use meditation to de-stress and relieve tension. Meditation creates space in the mind and body. No supplies or prior training needed. Participants will sit in chairs during the class. Registration required.

  • Saturday July 8, 2017 from 2:00 – 3:45 pm - Adult Wellness ~ “Got Love” Relationship & Lifestyle Workshop with Sharla Kornegay. Enjoy this live-music and lifestyle workshop to enhance your personal relationships. Participants will gain insight and understanding of themselves and their current or future partners by self-analysis for giving and receiving genuine, selfless love. Ms. Kornegay will perform songs throughout the workshop; vocalist Hayley Blanding will also perform. Participants over 18 please. Singles and couples welcome in this family friendly, PG-13 environment. Registration required.
