PMPL Adult Programs

We are offering an assortment of programs at the library for our adult patrons. Our goal is to provide regular programs featuring arts, crafts, personal well-being, technology, health, and other seasonal activities that keep the mind and body invigorated through learning, and of course, lots of reading. Join us for our monthly Book Club!
Book Club meets every month from 1:00 - 2:30 pm in the second floor quiet reading room with cozy chairs and fireplace.
Our congenial group is hosted by Miss Kathryn.
Titles are varied and can be read in print or digital form.
Everyone is welcome and can suggest books for future meetings.
Dates for upcoming book club are May 6, June 10, and July 8.
Summer reading titles TBD.

Pocono Mountain Public Library is really excited to announce that we are getting a new library catalog system (ILS), called Spark! The new system has all kinds of cool features for you -- better searching -- email and text alerts -- ability to place holds and track your reading. It is really great and staff are in training right now. You current PMPL library card with 14 digit barcode will still work - all patron accounts are transferred to the new system. ~~~~ We go live with our new Spark ILS on November 3!!!

Rosetta Stone language software is now available to use in the library. We have French, Italian, German, Chinese, Spanish, English, Chinese and Arabic. You need a library card to make an appointment to use Rosetta Stone in our tutoring lab. You can create and manage your own account, and learn at your own pace with their expert instruction! Just ask for more information.

  • Monday May 1 @ 6:30 pm - Create stunning cherry blossoms from tissue paper to enhance your Spring home décor. Join Judie Tim at the library to learn how to create realistic petals and styles. All supplies will be provided by the library. Ages 16 and up. Registration required!

  • Saturday May 6 @ 1:00 pm - Saturday Book Club featuring The People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. Book club takes place in our cozy fireplace reading room on the 2nd floor. All are welcome. Light refreshments served. Registration required!

  • Saturday May 6 @ 1:00 pm The Knitting and Crochet Guild with Miss Linda for all level of knitters and crochet hand arts. Beginners are welcome for useful tips. This club meets in Conference Room A on the 2nd floor. Bring your own supplies. Registration is NOT required!

  • Tuesday May 9th @ 10:00 am until 12:00 noon - Still Life Art Club ~ join us as a group for everyone to work on the same stil life composition in one sitting. For artists with basic and advanced skills. Practice drawing and painting with watercolors or using colored pencil. Working with a still life enhances observation skills, and you can meet other local artists. Limited space. The Library will provide some drawing and painting supplies for new artists as a courtesy, but experienced artists will prefer bringing their own supplies. Most members draw or paint with watercolor or gouache, or use colored pencils. You can also just keep it simple with paper and pencil. No oil paint, soft pastels, or charcoal permitted. Registration required!

  • Wednesday May 10th @ 6:00 - 7:30 pm - Guitar Workshop for Beginners ~ a workshop with Mr. Joe featuring basic skills for beginner players. This session features basic chords for Day Tripper by the Beatles. Please bring your own guitar - electric will not be able to plug in. A keyboard is also available. Participants will learn about the minor penatonic scale in a variety of genres. Come along for this great time to learn new things and learn from each other. Very popular - space is limited. Registration required!

  • Tuesday May 30th @ 10:30 am - Meditation to Quiet the Mind ~ Join Ananda certified meditation instructor Bev Abel for a class on how to use meditation to de-stress and relieve tension. Meditation creates space in the mind and body. No supplies or prior training needed. Participants will sit in chairs during the class. Registration required.
