PMPL Adult Programs

We are offering an assortment of programs at the library for our adult patrons. Our goal is to provide regular programs featuring arts, crafts, personal well-being, technology, health, and other seasonal activities that keep the mind and body invigorated through learning, and of course, lots of reading. Click on the monthly link above to find out more and see our schedule of programs. Our most current information is also located in our newsletter and on our facebook page. Registration is required for all our programs. Please register by calling the Reference Desk at 570-894-8860 X 4.

Our ebooks and emagazines are for both audio (listenting) and visual (reading), so please pay attention to product icons.
You need a 14 digit barcode on your PMPL library card to use our ebooks and emags. Just ask if you have any questions!

Rosetta Stone language software is now available to use in the library. We have French, Italian, German, Chinese, Spanish, English, Chinese and Arabic. You need a library card to make an appointment to use Rosetta Stone in our tutoring lab. You can create and manage your own account, and learn at your own pace with their expert instruction! Just ask for more information.

  • Saturday September 3 @ 1:00 - 2:30 pm - Saturday Book Club with Ms. Kathryn featuring Me Before You by by JoJo Moise. Come and join our book enthusiasts for lively discussion and light refreshments in the 2nd floor quiet reading room. Registration required! OCTOBER SELECTION IS The Night Circus by Erin Morganstern.

  • Wednesday September 7 @ 6:00 pm - Fall Pruning Workshop - learn how to correctly prune plants, shrubs and trees in the fall with our Master Gardener to get the best performance in your garden. Register at the reference desk.

  • Tuesday September 13 @ 10:00 am until 12:00 noon - Still Life Art Club ~ join us as a group for everyone to work on the same stil life composition in one sitting. For artists with basic and advanced skills. Our own artist, Bev Abel, will guide the group. Limited space. The Library will provide some drawing and painting supplies for new artists as a courtesy, but experienced artists will prefer bringing their own supplies. Most members draw or paint with watercolor or gouache. No oil paint, soft pastels, or charcoal permitted. Registration required!

  • Wednesday September 14 @ 6:00 - 7:30 pm - Guitar Workshop for Beginners ~ a workshop with Mr. Joe featuring basic skills for beginner players. Please bring your own guitar - electric will not be able to plug in. A keyboard is also available. Participants will learn about the minor penatonic scale in a variety of genres. Come along for this great time to learn new things and learn from each other. Very popular - space is limited. Registration required!

  • Wednesday September 21 @ 6:00 pm - Adults in the Arts ~ Paper Flowers Workshop - participants will learn how to make realistic flowers from tissue paper and crepe paper with instruction from Judy Tim. Materials are supplied by the library. Age 16 and up. Space is limited. Registration required!

  • Thursday September 22 @ 10:00 am - Meditation to Quiet the Mind ~ Join Ananda certified meditation instructor Bev Abel for a class on how to use meditation to de-stress and relieve tension. Meditation creates space in the mind and body. No supplies or prior training needed. Participants will sit in chairs during the class. Registration required.

  • Monday September 26 @ 6:00 pm - Adults in the Arts ~ Air Dry Clay Workshop - participants will learn how to make a coil pot with artist grade air-dry clay. Please bring a box to carry your pot home - it takes 24 hours to dry before it can be painted with any acrylic paint. Pots are decorative only. Materials are supplied by the library. Age 16 and up. Space is limited. Registration required!

  • Wednesday September 28 @ 2:00 pm - Adults in the Arts ~ Watercolor Workshop with Nancy Pitcher - participants will learn a variety of core watercolor techniques to help start them in the wonderful medium of watercolor. A unique painting that is finished by the end of the two hours is the result of this great class! Supplies provided by the library. Ages 16 and up. Registration required and space is limited.
